HOW DO WE KNOW GOD IS REAL?

There are many logical arguments for the existence of God. They each have strengths, but also limitations. GOD is impossible to explain fully because He is beyond our understanding.

But we also don’t have to accept God’s existence on “blind faith” as some people claim. We come to God through an educated and thoughtful process of understanding.

At the end of the day, however, we discover that God is REAL when we experience Him in our lives.

It would be like someone saying, “Prove to me pizza is good.”

I could logically explain pizza, describe pizza, show pictures of pizza, and share testimonies from people who love pizza. But until you take a bite, you’ll never KNOW that pizza is good.

The same is true of God. We can try to explain Him, prove Him, and tell stories about Him, but until you TRY GOD, you’ll never fully understand.

The Bible actually says:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Psalm 34:8)

God invites us to experience Him personally.

The Bible also says:

“God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.” (Acts 17:27)

God is not hiding. He wants to be found.

That said, one way to see evidence that God is real is to look at the world itself.

If a painting needs an artist, a pie needs a cook, and a self-driving Tesla car needs an inventor (Elon Musk), then our world points to a Creator.

The more you learn about our universe, the more difficult it becomes to believe it is all an accident. It would be like shaking a puzzle box and expecting all the pieces to fall together perfectly. It will never happen.

Someone has to put the pieces together.

But beyond that, someone had to design the puzzle, manufacture the puzzle, and put it in the box.

The Bible says:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1)

There is an old joke about a scientist who claimed he created life in a laboratory using only dust and light. A pastor responded, “Great! Now create the dust, the light, and the laboratory you used.”

God started with NOTHING.

There are many logical arguments like this. They are helpful, but they are limited.

A different approach is to ask:

What if there IS no God?

If there is no God, then we are nothing but accidents without purpose or meaning. There is no ultimate justice. There is no ultimate right or wrong. There is no reason why love is better than hate or kindness is better than cruelty.

Even if someone concludes there must be SOME KIND OF GOD, that still doesn’t prove the God of the Bible is THE God.

A deist says, “Sure, there is a God, but He is just an impersonal force that created everything and then walked away.”

In other words, the universe was made, and then this creator said, “Good luck.”

Many people like this idea because it means there is no responsibility to the Creator.

But again, why?

What purpose would life have?

Why should we care about others?

Why should goodness matter?

CONCLUSION: A world with no God is empty, and a world with an unknowable God is disappointing.
